A wild vision of a world ripped apart by metaphysical disaster, animalistic urges, plague and infestation. A vicious, surreal modern creation myth, and a commentary on the baseness of the human experience.

A radical new interpretation of Artaud’s ‘unstageable’ play by Theatre Encounter’s experimental research branch, the Baader Meinhof Collective. Developed in a collaborative creation process,  Spurt of Blood invites audiences of just 14 individuals per show to subject themselves to the visceral experience of the Theatre of Cruelty.

Theatre Encounter’s approach to this historic text incorporates music, dance, and multimedia performance art.

Directed by MICHAEL FENTON. Performed by VAL DUNCAN, CELENE HARDER, MARCY LANNAN and MICHAEL ROGERS. Stage and light design by DEAN MULLIN and JOHN HALE. Set Construction by JESSE EVERATT. Sound design and stage management by JESSICA ROVANSEK.

Presented March 22 to 25, 2017 at Theatre Junction GRAND. Shows at 8pm nightly, with a 2pm matinee on March 25. Patrons are advised to purchase tickets in advance, as only 14 tickets will be sold to each performance.
